The Jewish world has been grieving the three victims of the terrorist attack that took place on Friday afternoon 10 February in Ramot, Jerusalem.
Two young boys, Yaakov Yisrael Paley z’l(6) and his brother (8) Asher Menahem Paley z’l were niftier following the attack. Their father is still in critical condition in the hospital.
The third victim, Alter Shlomo Lederman z’l, was a 20-year-old rabbinical student who had been married for two months. He and his wife were on their way to his parents’ home for Shabbat.
While sitting shiva, Devorah, the mother of the two Paley brothers, clutched that now famous picture of the boys while she spoke full of emunah:
“These children were given to us as gifts, treasured to cherish. Don’t look for revenge, we’re in a place that there is a message from G-d. They have taken the sweet boys, the innocent so that we will be stronger.”
The artwork was given to Devorah Paley, the mother of the two boys, after she spoke at an event on Sunday night, 19 February. The event took place at Binyanei Hauma in Jerusalem with thousands women who came to support both grieving families. Asher Menahem and Yaakov Yisroel Paley’s family and Alter Shlomo Lederman’s family.
