When Haiti was hit by a massive earthquake on January 12, 2010, Israel was ready to help. The massive quake led to the death of an estimated 320,000 and left more than a million Haitians homeless.
The IDF delegation arrived in Haiti on January 15, and treated 1111 people who were wounded, operated on over 300 people, delivered 16 babies, and rescued four people stuck in the rubble. Unlike other delegations that took a long time to set up their rescue facilities, the IDF quickly established its operation center in a soccer field near the airport and went to work.
