Jeremiah’s pit and the seals of king’s ministers
The prophet Jeremiah was cursed, beaten, and thrown into a pit but he would not be silenced. Despite receiving death threats, Jeremiah insisted on rebuking the people for their sins and warning them of the destruction that would ensue if they rebelled against Babylonia. The movie, filmed in a cistern in the City of David, shows the charged atmosphere and the distress of the insubordinate prophet. Just a few meters from the cistern, bullae of Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Gedaliah son of Pashhur, two ministers who tried to have Jeremiah sentenced to death, were discovered.
