The film accompanies the exiles from Jerusalem to Babylonia after the destruction of the First Temple. There they experience the shock of displacement before gradually integrating in Babylonia. Then, after decades in the far-off kingdom, they hear the rare, surprising pronouncement allowing them to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple.
