The series is loosely based on Deborah Feldman’s 2012 memoir `Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Root` and follows the story of Esty. Esty is a young ultra-Orthodox Jewish girl in Brooklyn, New York, who feels suffocated in her tightly-knit community (and her marriage) so leaves to start a new life in Berlin, Germany.
We spoke to Shira Haas about the series, shaving her head and her friendships with her co-stars.
